Rajby’s art-covered totes bring joy to Kingpins
Pakistan-based mill Rajby worked with a group of artists from the Karachi Down Syndrome Programme on a project that culminated in their hand-painted and screen-printed tote bags gifted to Kingpins Amsterdam visitors.
The mill worked with the group for a year on the Denim With Purpose initiative, which included internships at the factory.
“We provide a global stage for talent that is often overlooked,” explained Kanwal Noor, Rajby’s head of creative marketing.
During the show, visitors wrote messages of thanks to the artists. These were stuck onto a painted tree and then taken back to Pakistan to be hung in their workshop.
All the artists were paid for their work.
Rajby selects initiatives annually that fit into its CSR (corporate social responsibility) strategy. Last year, it held the Denim of 2050 student design competition, judged by Adriano Goldschmied, consultant Wouter Munnichs and Endrime founder Mohsin Sajid.
