Gap Inc. strengthens fashiontainment pole
Gap Inc is building up its newly formed ‘fashiontainment’ platform with the appointment of Lourdes Arocho to head licensing. She will be based in the company’s Los Angeles offices and report to Chief Entertainment Officer Pam Kaufman. Ms Kaufman joined the group this February from Paramount.
Ms Arocho has held licensing and consumer product development roles for various studios, including Nickelodeon, NBC Universal and most recently Paramount Global, where, as head of licensing and franchise strategy, she was involved in brand extensions for the likes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants, Top Gun: Maverick, Yellowstone and PAW Patrol.
For Gap Inc’s brands Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic and Athleta, she will be in charge of crafting coherent brand extensions and creating retail opportunities “that connect the company more deeply to entertainment, sports and the cultural moments shaping conversation today”, reads the statement.
“Great brands do not just show up in culture, they help shape it. Licensing is both a meaningful growth driver and a powerful way to keep our brands in the cultural conversation,” commented Pam Kaufman.
