Banana Republic reissues archival adventure-ready capsule

Gap-owned brand Banana Republic is reconnecting with its origins in a partnership with The Explorers Club, an organisation that has been supporting environmental and scientific expeditions and missions since 1905.

In its Archive Reissue collection, the retailer has reintroduced a number of its original utilitarian designs from its early years as an outdoor/adventure lifestyle brand, back in the late 70s, early 80s. The 20-piece limited-edited capsule includes a fisherman’s jacket, a packable rain jacket, a trekking jumpsuit for women, a cotton/hemp ticking shirt, khaki cargo shorts and convertible plants, a multipocket vest, along with old school backpacks and bucket hats.

The campaign makes the most of the brand’s early catalogues and was photographed in the historic Explorer’s Club in Manhattan. It stars contemporary conservationists Joshua Jackson, Jon Paul Phillips, Farah Nieuwberg and Michael Washington.
