Candiani produces linen blends in answer to rising temperatures
Italian mill Candiani Denim has launched a linen-blended denim collection made from Spanish and Greek regenerative cotton, blended with flax from France in the weft, as it explores lightweight alternatives in response to rising global temperatures.
The fibres’ short supply chains help to minimise environmental impacts and makes them easier to trace, it added.
Linen is hypoallergenic, odour-resistant and breathable, and it can absorb excess humidity.
The fabrics are treated with Kitotex - made from the fungus Aspergillus niger rather than PVA - which enhances the durability of the yarns on the loom.
Candiani aims to shift to using mainly regenerative cotton this year, while maintaining some organic cotton, as well as recycled fibres and yarns.
