Bio advances underpin Asutex’s developments
Glittering effects revealed by laser and a bio-based alternative to potassium permanganate are among the latest developments from Spanish chemicals company Asutex.
Asulak LLR Gold and Silver, part of its Laser Reveal series, is referred to as a glitter effect, but the underlying chemistry is based on mineral components rather than microplastics. The system is engineered for post-print laser activation, enabling customised designs after application (pictured).
Asutex also launched what it described as a “significant advancement in bio solutions” with Asuprend FBS, which is applied directly in the tumbler to create a salt-and-pepper effect on denim without the need for spray application. The process simplifies operations and removes the need for potassium permanganate, it said. When combined with enzymes for stone wash replacement, it enables a shorter and fully bio process.
Separately, Asumin O3 Nuevo has been developed to protect indigo dyes from ozone-induced degradation and prevent ozone yellowing, while Printgum E-PP is a naturally sourced mineral thickener for indigo discharge applications. When combined with oxidizing agents, it creates controlled random bleaching effects and integrates easily into standard washing processes without heat.
