Fashion brands visit cotton farms as part of Australia’s Camp Cotton
Representatives of apparel brands from 18 countries took part in a cotton education and field visit in Australia at the start of May.
A group of 50 delegates spent three days at the Australian Natural Fibres Forum in Sydney, learning about how Australian cotton is produced. The group then visited farms in the Namoi Valley in New South Wales.
Chair of promotional body Cotton Australia, Liz Stott, said: “Bringing brands and retailers onto farm helps build trust in how Australian cotton is produced and gives them confidence in the sustainability behind the fibre.”
Cotton Australia organised the event, referring to it as Camp Cotton. Ms Stott said inviting important fashion groups, including VF Corporation and J.Crew, would help strengthen relationships and drive demand.
