Momotaro's garden tranquillity sets scene for latest store
Japanese brand Momotaro Denim is opening a store in Fukuoka, which it sees as a “gateway city to Asia”, to strengthen engagement with global customers.
This is the brand’s first store in the Kyushu region following its revamp in 2024 and the opening of a store in Kyoto.
The same architects, Jun Aoki and Masatoshi Shinagawa of the AS agency, designed this store. It includes a courtyard planted with cycads, evoking the Setouchi landscapes that are the brand's roots. When the weather permits, the doors can be opened wide
They said: “Hidden behind that quiet façade, this garden serves as a buffer between the bustle of the street and the tranquil interior, channelling light and breeze into the space. Before it is a shop, it is a garden, quietly nestled in the heart of the city."
