Messe Frankfurt to take textile events to Kenya
Events organiser Messe Frankfurt has announced that it will launch Nairobi editions of its Texworld, Apparel Soucing and Texprocess exhibitions in 2027.
From next year, these new events will run annually as part of the Nairobi edition of the wider Africa Sourcing and Fashion Week (ASFW) platform. ASFW holds events in other major African cities, including Addis Ababa and, for a number of years now, Messe Frankfurt has hosted Texworld, Apparel Soucing and Texprocess in the Ethiopian capital, in partnership with ASFW.
It has said it now wants to expand its partnership with ASFW into Kenya, applying its “Addis Ababa concept” there too.
Commenting on the development, Detlef Braun, a member of Messe Frankfurt’s executive board, said: “Africa is becoming one of the major strategic growth markets for the global textile industry, so we are investing specifically in this bright future.”
He said the company aimed to help create long-term, sustainable business relationships that would be of benefit to textile and apparel producers in Africa and to buyers in the global market.
