Tonello demonstrates breadth of effects though Denim Illusion

Italian machinery company Tonello has presented Denim Illusion - a collection that dyes and finishes garments to look like denim, demonstrating the breadth of its processes.

With DyeMate, garments are dyed in the machine with indigo through a low-temperature process, creating a base that responds to treatments.

The collection includes ready-to-dye garments treated through Sulfur Essence, where sulfur dyes and indigo combine in the same bath to recreate the look of discharged and overdyed denim, substantially reducing the amount of time and resources needed. “The fabric is also less stressed,” explained Tonello’s marketing manager, Alberto Lucchin.

With THE Laser 2.0, Tonello recreates scraping effects, wear marks, whiskers and folds. The OBleach process delivers authentic bleach effects, while static ozone, through the O-Zone cabinet, creates localised fading, ‘sun fading’, and smooth degradé transitions that add depth and movement.

Part of the collection, featuring more vibrant tones, is developed using Core, Tonello’s nebulisation technology, enabling special dyeing processes with a low liquor ratio.

The company also works with mineral dyes, using waste from other industries. “You can treat it like a pigment to achieve a base, and we have added indigo on top,” explained Lucchin of the collection presented at Kingpins.

“Everything is done in the same machine,” he said. “Our approach is you have the machine and you can add different kits to upgrade it, which also optimizes space in the laundry.” All Tonello technologies boost efficiency, are easy and safe for the operators and produce excellent effects, he added.
