Retailers push for Vietnamese mills to use US cotton
Cotton industry information resource Cotlook has said in its monthly report for March 2026 that international cotton prices rose strongly over the month.
At the end of March, prices on its Cotlook A Index, its benchmark for raw cotton, reached 80.95 cents per pound in weight. It said this was the index’s firmest level since early December 2024.
It went on to say that yarn demand and downstream orders had picked up during March. In Bangladesh, spinners continued to secure lint from Brazil and West Africa. It also described business as active in Turkey, primarily for cotton from Brazil and the US.
With regard to mills in Vietnam, it commented that the focus was “largely on US cotton” and said that the reason for this was “requests from retail buyers”.
